FAIRWAY OAKS/GREENVIEW
The Fairway Oaks/Greenview Historic District consists of two contiguous and historically related suburban residential subdivisions developed between 1950 and the early 1960’s on the outskirts of Savannah. Fairway Oaks was one of the first residential developments in Savannah to break with the traditional “pre-war” gridiron pattern of streets and instead features curvilinear streets, three cul-de-sacs, and two perimeter roadways. The houses also reflect post-war, or mid-century influence and are predominately Ranch, Split-level and American Small Houses in the Colonial Revival, Contemporary, and Modern styles. Greenview features an H-shaped street layout, with house types similar to Fairway Oaks, but the houses are larger and more architecturally elaborate.
