2205/2207 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
In 2020, HSF secured a purchase option on this fire-damaged, vacant property in Cuyler-Brownville through the Savannah/Chatham Land Bank Authority. Built in 1901, it was built for Adoniram Thorpe, a manager at the Singer Sewing Machine Company. It has been vacant for over 20 years. HSF will not only see that the building is properly rehabbed, but that it will fulfill much-needed affordable housing in Savannah. As a term of the sale, HSF has placed a 10-year affordable housing covenant on the property to ensure it remains within reach of those who need it most. The vacant lot was included in the sale and will be developed with new construction sympathetic to the design of the existing house.
